Welcome

Time Waves

December 3, 2020

We’re developing the website offline and hope to have something up soon. In the meantime, to give a taste of what’s to come, below is a screenshot of the desktop workspace. But of course there are issues with bugs in the development program and this continues to be a slow process. We’ve been in touch with support and they’ve been very responsive with bug fixes and updates to the plugin. However they’re in Germany and it takes a day or more to answer a request and then more time to fix the bug.
…so it goes.
Thanks for coming by!

The image below, Study for Sculpture, was shot underwater on November 10, in Castle Lake, Siskiyou County California. The shot was a test of a new strobe configuration and not intended to become an image for display. However it fit the goal of the next series of sculptures. The series concept is to use photography in conjunction with bronze sculpture. The sculpture will be an interpretation of the image, incorporating the Time Waves motif. The challenge of both the image and the sculpture will be to convey how time is being portrayed as the cohesive element in the composition.

Study for Sculpture

The sculpture on the top of the page is titled, Sand and Bone. The wave pattern is a motif I often use that represents time, hence the title of the sculpture series, Time Waves.

This morning while surfing the net I came across an image by photographer Jamie Carter that does an exceptional job of expressing what I’m trying to achieve with the Time Waves series. The image can be seen here: https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/MHxRAW2j7Y2hYipgbygoSh.jpg

Message from Jack:

In almost every respect, the past few months have been challenging.
The good news is that I’m back in the studio.
The next few weeks I’ll be concentrating on both sculpture and photography with an emphasis on underwater images.

The Time Wave Series of sculptures began in 1981 while diving at Point Lobos in California. Many of the photos and video I’m now working on will be part of the video project that explores what goes into a bronze sculpture, specifically of the Time Wave Series.

During this time of intense creative work the website is simply going to be on the back burner. I’ve been hoping to have it back up and running but a cascade of technical issues and other unforeseen circumstances made it difficult at best. The new site WILL come alive someday but not until I’m able to give it the time it deserves. Until then I’ll post an occasional image or two of ongoing projects but it will be awhile before the site is back to an acceptable display of my work. I hope you check back in soon.

All my best,

Jack

…and now the site has been hacked. A total update of the site is in the works – again.

July 29, 2020

Mark, Jack’s brother, recently passed away. Jack will be back in the studio/office once family matters have been taken care of. Until then the website rebuild is on hold. Check back soon as there are exciting plans for www.jackshaw.net.

July 14, 2020

Jack has been out of the studio since the beginning of May. Jack’s brother, Mark Minzyk, has been in Hospice. Once things return to a relative normal Jack will be back and his supervision of the new website will continue.

Finally! With all the time consuming confusion that now exists, we finally found a template for the new jackshaw.net website. Rather than develop it offline we’ve decided to allow it to grow in public. Keep checking back to watch the progress!

Hello and thank you for stopping to take a look at jackshaw.net – the website for Jack Shaw Sculpture.
As we all know, the past month has been a little crazy for everyone. There have been all sorts of issues to deal with that have led to delays. We will get back to working on re-configuring jackshaw.net as soon as possible. Thank you for checking in.

Customer support finally got back to us yesterday and they were pretty useless. Fortunately we have been investigating new templates for the website and will be uploading the new site soon. For a change, we will be using a vendor who has proven to have adequate customer support.  We anticipate having the complete site back up and running sometime next week.

In researching new webpage themes for jackshaw.net we came across this article:

https://wickydesign.com/wordpress-themes-are-dead/?fbclid=IwAR0A0otJOLp3QSHClbFSLgppkzJpxK5S7XFpwyM7QNiWh9bBCsv7lfbstiE

Making a correct decision in how to proceed with the rebuild of the site is challenging and may take more time than we would like. While we don’t want to leave what remains of the site up for long, we also need to make sure that whatever we replace it with will last a long time and is easy to edit. Please bear with us as we move forward and please feel free to contact the studio with any questions or comments.

Hello and thanks for stopping to take a look at jackshaw.net – the website for Jack Shaw Sculpture.  The website is still experiencing issues. The WORDPRESS THEME which powers the website is not able to keep up with the necessary software updates. The current estimate for customer support is 5 days before they can begin to even investigate the problem. This of course is unacceptable and we are in the process of finding a theme to replace the current webpage format. We hope to have a new and improved version up soon. In the meantime, SOME of the menu items above link to SOMEWHAT functional pages. They can give you an idea of Jack’s work.
Thanks again for visiting and check back soon!
